There are a number of reasons why an individual may need to submit a self-assessment return to HMRC. If you are unsure, please do get in touch and I will happily help you to answer any questions you may have.
If you are required to submit a return, I can prepare this for you ensuring that you pay the correct amount of tax. I offer fixed fees for the completion of the return which starts at £150 per return.
I can also review your earnings for the current year to enable you to plan ahead making the most of the allowances available.
I can prepare the statutory accounts due to Companies House and the corporation tax return for your limited company on a timely basis to ensure that all deadlines are met. I can also have a meeting with you to run through the figures and any allowances that have been claimed to give you peace of mind and understand what it all means.
If you are a sole trader, I can summarise your income and expenditure for the year which can then be entered straight into your self-assessment tax return or can be converted into a simple set of accounts alongside the return.*
If your business is a partnership, I can complete the year-end accounts and partnership tax return ahead of the HMRC deadline. Each partner is also required to complete a self-assessment tax return each year which is another task I can take care of.
*The income and expenditure will still be declared on your tax return however it may be useful to have a separate document for applying for finance, etc..
By definition, bookkeeping is the recording of financial transactions. In reality, this means that you have an up-to -date view of your business’ financial position. I can come to your premises or I can work remotely depending upon the software used; this may be weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly.
Management accounts are generally prepared on a monthly or quarterly basis and enable a business to compare actual results to budgets and/or key performance indicators. They can be used to help the management team make decisions. The content of management accounts is therefore tailored to your specific needs.
Businesses with a taxable turnover of £85,000 or higher must register for VAT and submit returns to HMRC on a regular basis but you can also register your business voluntarily if your turnover is below this level.
If you are unsure if you should register for VAT, I can perform a review of your records and then complete the registration if required.
If you are already registered for VAT, I can review your records to ensure that you are using an appropriate VAT scheme in addition to submitting the monthly/quarterly/annual returns to HMRC on your behalf.
I can manage your payroll on your behalf, taking care of all RTI submissions to HMRC, sending payslips to your employees and ensuring your auto-enrolment obligations are met. Fees vary dependent upon the number of employees and the frequency of the payments.
If you are a contractor deducting CIS from subcontractors, these deductions should be reported to HMRC on a monthly basis. I can prepare and submit the monthly reports on your behalf.
If you offer your staff additional benefits, I can prepare and submit the required HMRC forms to ensure that the correct amount of Class 1a National Insurance contributions are paid over in respect of these benefits.
I can take care of secretarial duties such as the annual confirmation statement required by Companies, taking minutes at board meetings, producing dividend vouchers, etc..
If you feel that your business’ finance function is laborious, time-consuming and inefficient, I can perform a review of the systems you have in place and make recommendations on ways to improve this.
If you want to get a better understanding of your bookkeeping software, e.g. Xero, Sage, Quickbooks etc., then I can offer you 1:1 training. This may be a scheduled session or ad-hoc advice as and when you need it.
I can take care of all finance-related tasks on behalf of your business, essentially a combination of the above services which can be tailored to your business’ needs.
If you are considering setting up your own business or incorporating an existing business, I am happy to chat you through the options available to you and the implications of each scenario; if you choose to set up a limited company, I can do this on your behalf.
If you are thinking of investing in new equipment, we can discuss the different tax reliefs available to you.
