Personalised Accountancy Services
On 2 July 2012, I started my journey as a trainee accountant working for a relatively small firm based in Paddock Wood, Kent having just completed my A-levels at Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School just days before. After almost 2 years at this firm, I decided to move to a smaller firm based in Bells Yew Green, Kent, to experience a different office environment and new areas of expertise, including Solicitors’ Accounts Rules audits.
Due to relocating to West Sussex, I joined a larger firm in September 2015 where I grew from business services assistant to client relationship manager over a period of 4 years before setting up my own business in April 2020. In this role, I covered a variety of areas from bookkeeping through to auditing although the latter part of my employment was more focused on VAT and management accounts as well as providing training to clients on Xero.
Whilst I am the face of the business, its growth means that I am now supported by two members of staff. We have Vicky Pentecost, who works as an admin assistant but also helps with bookkeeping, and Annie Steel, our apprentice accountant who is studying towards her AAT qualification.
Cost-Effective Expertise
In terms of professional qualifications, I completed levels 2-4 of the Association of Accounting Technicians qualification at evening classes at West Kent College before becoming a full member in August 2015. I then completed the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) qualification by self-study in October 2017 although I am not currently a member of the Association. More recently, I completed the Chartered Institute of Taxation’s qualification and as of August 2021, have obtained Chartered Tax Adviser status. I have extensive experience with Xero and am an official Xero Partner; I am Xero-certified which means I keep up to date with the latest developments.
